Educational Reintegration after spinal cord injury

Christine Jenkins is a hospital teacher based at the National Spinal Injuries Centre, Stoke Mandeville, where she has recently completed research on educational reintegration after SCI.

With over 30 years of teaching experience in primary, secondary and adult education settings, Christine has worked in a range of roles, including as a deputy head and home tutor for students with medical/mental health needs. She has also authored teaching materials for several leading publishers.

Christine holds a master’s degree in special educational needs and disabilities. She has a particular interest in finding creative ways to support students’ learning, enabling them to reengage with education. Her recent study (nominated for a British Educational Research Association award) explored the perspectives of school staff who had supported pupils returning to school after SCI. She is delighted to share the findings relevant to SCI professionals at this conference, in collaboration with colleagues from the NSIC.
